The production returned to Regent’s Park as part of the 2017 season, played an indoor summer run at London’s Barbican Centre in 2019, and was performed again outdoors at Regent’s, socially distanced, from late summer to early fall 2020. It won the BBC Radio 2 Audience Award for Best Musical at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards and an Olivier Award for Best Musical Revival. In summer 2016, a revival of Jesus Christ Superstar was mounted in the UK by the outdoor Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, under the direction of Timothy Sheader.
